The San Francisco Treatment Research Center (SFTRC) is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and conducts a variety of studies focused on innovative treatments for substance abuse.

The San Francisco VA Epilepsy Center was established in 1997 to provide specialized care to veterans suffering from seizures. In 2002, the Center was named as one of four national centers of excellence, and in 2008, was officially designated as a regional Epilepsy Center of Excellence through a congressional act.

The UCSF Skull Base & Cerebrovascular laboratory is formed by world-renowned Neurosurgeons and Otolaryngologists in the fields of skull base, neuro-oncology and cerebrovascular surgery.

The Sloan-Swartz Center for Theoretical Neurobiology at UCSF was formed in 1994 and funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Swartz Foundation with the goal of providing an environment where young scientists with strong backgrounds in theory would receive training in experimental neuroscience research.

The Spine Center at UCSF Medical Center is one of the largest centers of its kind in the country, treating 10,000 patients a year. The center brings together world-renowned specialists in neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, neurology, physiatry and other specialties to design the most effective treatment for your condition.

The Sports Concussion Programat UCSF Medical Center is the region's premier center for evaluating and treating athletes. With combined expertise, the program can evaluate, diagnose and manage virtually any sports concussion and help athletes safely recover and even return to sports.

The Service, Training, Advocacy and Research (STAR) Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Neurodevelopmental Disorders aims to lead the way to better understand, treat, and promote the well-being of people with ASDs and other NDDs.

The mission of the UCSF Stroke Center is to reduce the burden of stroke in our local and global communities by identifying its causes and treatments through state-of-the-art clinical and translational research.

The Substance Abuse Research Program addresses a range of issues, from laboratory studies of the interactions between medications for treatment of HIV/AIDS and treatment of addictions, to clinical trials of a variety of behavioral and structural interventions for substance users with co-occurring diseases.

The UCSF Surgical Movement Disorders Center's mission is to provide state-of-the-art comprehensive multidisciplinary care to patients with movement disorders. It is one of the busiest deep brain stimulation implanting centers on the West Coast with a wide referral base.
