The Adult Psychiatry Residency Training Program includes the biological, psychological and socio-cultural aspects of psychiatry and strives to prepare residents for successful careers emphasizing clinical practice, scholarship, teaching and research.

The Alcoholism and Addiction Research Group works to understand the neural mechanisms of the drug actions that mediate reward and on mechanisms of learning and memory -- phenomena that play key roles in the addictive process.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive, fatal disease that attacks nerve cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord causing the body's motor neurons to waste away. The ALS's mission is to minimize suffering from this disease, and allow patients to lead more autonomous lives.

The Anxiety Disorders Clinic at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute is a multidisciplinary specialty clinic that provides evaluation and treatment for individuals with all types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder (PD), social anxiety disorder or social phobia (SocP), specific phobias (SP), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and other types of anxiety symptoms.
