Dr. Guo's project is developing a novel drug that can cross the blood-brain barrier and target a specific protein in the dopamine-producing brain cells, which are most affected by Parkinson's disease. By protecting these vulnerable neurons, this approach aims to slow the progression of early-stage Parkinson's disease and may ultimately have broader applications for other neurodegenerative disorders.
