Dr. Hellmuth is investigating the biological mechanisms underlying cognitive post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), a cognitive syndrome that can follow a COVID infection. Often experienced as “brain fog” that can impede daily function, PASC impacts up to an estimated 40 million people worldwide. Dr. Hellmuth’s work seeks to identify the key mechanisms driving PASC, a crucial step towards developing effective tools for both diagnosis and treatment.
