Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is a popular device technology to treat chronic low back and leg pain, yet ways to optimize therapy for each patient and predict which patients will maintain future benefit remains an unmet need. Dr. Shirvalkar is studying brain signatures of SCS and chronic pain using electroencephalograhy (EEG) to develop precision-medicine algorithms that will guide optimal, patient-tailored device programming and predict which patients may be good candidates for SCS implantation.
