Mapping Cellular Migration in the Developing Brain

Dr. Kim is working to better define the migration of critical cellular populations in the developing brain. Disruptions and malfunction in early development of the temporal cortex is linked to the emergence of several neurodevelopmental disorders, though little is known about the specific mechanisms underlying prevalent clinical conditions such as auditory hyperactivities or acquiring of linguistic abilities. By better defining and mapping of the developmental process in the infant temporal cortex, Dr. Kim seeks to establish a new foundational understanding of the process, opening new avenues for the treatment development.
