Unraveling the Mechanisms that Control Sleep

Dr. Poskanzer aims to understand how astrocytes – the largest class of non-neuronal brain cells – are involved in the control of sleep and wake, which will allow us to identify molecules that could be future therapeutic targets for sleep disturbances and may help clarify the cell types and circuits linked to neuropsychiatric disorders.
