Towards a More Targeted Treatment for Autoimmune Diseases

Current treatments of autoimmune conditions involve broad immunosuppression, which carry increased risks of infection and cancer. Drs. Sabatino and Zhou are working to develop a novel type of treatment that more specifically targets a specific subset of immune cells believed to be important in multiple autoimmune diseases, eliminating culprit cells with more precision while sparing the rest of the immune system.
