Developing Personalized Adaptive Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson’s Disease

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) can mitigate many symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as tremors, slowness, and stiffness. However, the treatment of advanced gait-related problems remain a complex challenge. Dr. Wang and her team are working with the latest DBS devices to design and implement personalized and adaptive closed-loop DBS systems, altering stimulation based on a patient’s movement state to provide optimized treatment.
