The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionally affected women working in science and academia. In an effort to help alleviate some of this disparity within our own neuroscience community, the Research Support for Female Learners Impacted by COVID-19 program provides resources to those whose research or career development have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the success of last year's program, the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences has extended funding support for 2022.
The UCSF Weill Women in Neurosciences Committee will distribute one-time grants up to $1,000 to 25 female learners (neuroscience graduate students, post-docs, clinical research trainees, etc), based on proposed use of funds. These funds can be used for research purposes and will be placed in the discretionary account of the recipient’s mentor/principal investigator. Example use of funds include conference/workshop registration, professional society membership, computer or software, laboratory supplies/reagents, core services or statistical consultation, publication or open access fees, scientific illustration or editing services, to name a few.
RFA now closed. Recipients will be notified by the end of May 2022, and asked to complete a brief survey approximately 6 months after receiving funding.
